Founding partner of Stratus, Álvaro Gonçalves has an extensive experience in the Brazilian investment environment. Formerly a MD of Pactual Electra Capital Partners, a private equity fund jointly sponsored by Electra (UK) and Banco Pactual (Brasil), he previously led turnarounds and several acquisitions and divestitures in Brazil in corporate officer capacities (CEO/CFO). He served as Chairman of the Brazilian Private Equity Association from 2004 to 2006 and has held positions in boards of directors of Brazilian as well as multinational companies. Gonçalves has a BS in Industrial Engineering from FEI (São Paulo), a postgraduate degree from FGV (São Paulo) and an MBA from IMD-International (Switzerland).

Carolina is part of the Latin American Venture Capital Association (LAVCA)’s legal committee where she leads a team discussion on standard venture capital and private equity terms and conditions for Brazil and a board member at the Brazilian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (ABVCAP).
Carolina graduated from Universidade Federal do Paraná in Curitiba in 1996 and completed a Masters in International and Commercial Law at the University of Sheffield in 2001.
